The evolution of Picard bakery equipment
Picard Bakery Equipment was founded in 1957 by Lauréat Picard, a baker by trade. Lauréat would buy used equipment and improve it to fit his baking needs. Word about his work quickly began spreading within the baking community. Feeling inspired, this visionary French Canadian turned his hobby for modifying equipment into a business and started manufacturing bakery ovens and other related equipment.
In the 1980s, Mr. Picard developed the MT oven, now known as the Revolution oven. To this day, many bakers and pizzeria operators still own an original MT oven even 40 years after purchasing it.
After running Picard Bakery Equipment for over thirty years, Lauréat transferred his business to his two sons, Gilles and Guy. With the sons now at the helm, considerable investment was made in R&D to achieve the highest quality possible in the industry.
In the 1990’s, Picard Ovens made a dent in the industry and invented the FIRST stone conveyor pizza oven. Named after the founding father Lauréat Picard, the LP-200 quickly became a hit. Still today, it is revolutionizing the industry now under the Hot Rocks name.
In 2014, the Picard brothers sold the family business to Korok Group – a private Canadian holding company owning a variety of manufacturing companies in the food industry. To this day, all Picard ovens are still manufactured in Canada, reflecting our commitment to quality and reliability.
